I have stayed in VRBO's and AirB+B's for decades and NEVER written a bad review until now!! Not sure where to even start, I reserved with VRBO not a realty company. If I had know I would not have reserved. Vacation Rental By OWNER!! not a realty! I had to sign separate multi page contract after VRBO took my deposit. The charges listed between the two didn't up. Island realty held the door code hostage until I came to their facility. They initially stated I had to come get the code so they could verify it was me. Then I called as we weren't getting in until dinner time when they were closed. They then stated I could pick up code in a lock box. SO HOW DO THEY VERIFY IT WAS ME THEN! The lock box contained ANOTHER contract for me to sign stating ages of people and no parties/damages ect THIS WAS ALREADY IN THE DAMN CONTRACT. Driving 10-11 hours and having to make another stop to get the door code when it could have easily been emailed (as VRBO does) is absolutely ridiculous. There were ZERO beach towels - crazy when you are renting at the beach. The bath mats in the bathrooms were totally GROSS!! Showers had mold. I will spare the pictures (as we have them) ...when we pulled the sheets; to get ready to leave it looked like someone was murdered in the bed!! No mattress cover IT WAS SOOOOO DISGUSTING. There was a list on the dryer stating the beach towels were in the laundry room, but the washer and dryer were stacked in a closet and there was no laundry room. There was check out instructions taped to the dryer telling us to sweep all the hardwood floors...can you imagine. Lesson learned pay attention to who is listed as the owner.

When arrivals fall outside business hours, we do our best to accommodate by setting up secure lockboxes, though this does limit our ability to verify in person. We appreciate your understanding as we balance convenience with responsible management practices. Regarding the condition of the home, mattress protectors are a standard in all of our properties, and our housekeeping team has been directed to inspect and correct this immediately. If any mattresses require professional cleaning, that will be completed right away. We also want to clarify that there are no notes in this home referring to beach towels or instructions to sweep hardwood floors. It’s possible that what you found was a personal note left behind by the owner for housekeeping, but we are reviewing this further to prevent any confusion in the future. As for the VRBO booking process, Island Realty is clearly listed as the property manager and Premier Host on the listing. While VRBO collects its service fee directly and presents certain details differently within its platform, we have no access to or control over its fee structure or display. Our own rental agreement is required to ensure compliance with local ordinances, homeowner association rules, and property protection standards — a common practice among professionally managed vacation rentals. We appreciate you bringing these matters to our attention. Your comments are helpful as we continue refining our communication and housekeeping procedures to ensure a positive experience for all guests.

We had air conditioning problems which made our stay very uncomfortable. Island Realty sent maintenance and provided a portable air conditioning unit which tripped a breaker so they sent another technician. Overall it was not our best vacation. Second time we rented this house.

This was our second year in a row renting this property for our family vacation. It’s perfect for our young children and family members to enjoy time together but also have their own space. We rent a golf cart to make getting to the beach even easier. And the pool is perfect for the second d half of the day. The crib mattress needed to be replaced and the staff was super prompt in getting a new one ordered! We love this home but wish some general maintenance and cleaning would be done for the price and location as it is a great family vacation home in a great location.

It was spacious with lots of room. The stairs were a challenge for our elderly father, which we knew would be hard upon booking. The mattress on the pull out sofa on the top floor was terrible and all you could feel were springs so that would definitely need an upgrade. We received a text that someone was coming to fix the grill which we had idea it needed to be fixed which we planned to use that same night so that would have been upsetting to know it didn’t work. Something needed to be fixed would have been nice to know so planning can be made for alternate plans if needed.

My family really enjoyed our stay in this lovely was clean and well appointed with everything we needed.The location was great being so close to the shops and restaurants on Front Beach. We all enjoyed the pool but wished there had been a 1/2 bath on the ground floor. Overall it was a great week and I would recommend this house and your real estate company to other vacationers.

We had family come to town for our child's high school graduation, and were looking for a place for everyone to stay. Carolina Blvd 1018 was a perfect place! It's in a perfect location for IOP and is walking distance to all the local restaurants and shops as well as the beach. The rooftop is a perfect place to listen to live music happening at the Windjammer. The property is also very close to the Windjammer when you want to see the shows in person. Having a private pool was also great. It's a pool on the smaller size, but was plenty of space for our family to enjoy. Having an elevator was extremely helpful for luggage and all the supplies we brought for the week. The elevator does not go up to the top floor however. The beds were really comfortable and the kitchen had all the pots, pans, dishes, glasses, silverware, etc. we needed to feed all guests in the house. We had such a good time that we want to make visiting an annual event moving forward!

This home was perfectly suited for a group of 7 to get together over the long Easter weekend. It was well appointed and a very short walking distance to the beach, while also being a short drive into Charleston for sight seeing and brunch or dinner. We loved the rooftop deck and spent a lot of time up there, and the kids enjoyed the pool table. The pool is on the small side and doesn’t get much sun, we didn’t pay to heat it for such a short stay, but if you’re there in the spring or fall - I highly recommend you heat it. We didn’t use it because it was too cold and no sun.

This house is amazing! It has an elevator that is a great help getting your luggage to the floor you are on. It was very clean and in great shape. We (three families) were very comfortable here! The pool is small but a nice size and depth. Great pool furniture to sit and relax on. We all enjoyed the pool, especially the kids (2, 8 and 10 years old). It was great for cooling off, relaxing and playing, of course! Everything was just a hop, skip, and a jump away - town, restaurants and the beach. We really enjoyed our stay in Isle of Palms and if we ventured this way again, we would definitely stay here again. Thanks for the great vacation! Oh, and we had a great experience with Island Realty also. If you have any questions, they will help you, just call. They are readily available to help you and you get to talk to a real person! They even sent me a text the day of arrival and went over the arrival procedure and we were running late and I told them my daughter and family would be arriving ahead of us. They knew to expect her and she checked in for us - no problem at all!

We had a wonderful week in our rental house. There were 7 of us, ranging in age from 85 yrs old to 24 yrs old and it was a perfect fit! The house was in excellent condition and well-located. We found it very easy to go into Charleston for dinners and sightseeing. It was a pleasure working with Island Realty from the beginning to the end! We will certainly be back!

My family and I had an amazing time during our stay here. The home offered plenty of room and the top floor was great for the youngest kids. The pool was perfect for cooling off after hot beach days. It’s a short walk to the beach so we just rented a golf cart for all the chairs/coolers/etc. Home is very spacious, offers great deck spaces, and spacious bedrooms. We already booked our trip for next year!

Just be prepared for lots of stairs! Cool house, very roomy! Walking distance to bars and restaurants on IOP. Extra living space on the top floor was great for the kids who got tired of watching football with the adults.

Overall, great property. Great location. Loved how many rooms it had and the spacious kitchen. Disappointed in the amount of towels and toilet paper. Only 2 towels in each bathroom that is supposed to accommodate 4 people. Ended up having to go buy more bath towels and do a bunch of laundry. Also not enough toilet paper or trash bags to accommodate a big group. Ended up having to go buy more. House is dog friendly which we loved but there are no fenced in area for dogs to use the bathroom. The backyard is concrete with a little landscaping. Every time our dog had to pee we had to put him on a leash and walk him in the front yard which was a big inconvenience. The front door code didn't work so we ended up having to use the back door the whole trip. There were a couple door handles that were loose in the house but still functional. The tvs were hard to operate. Pool was really dirty when we got there. A company came and cleaned it 2 days before we left. For the price we paid, we expected much better quality in the finishes and furnishings of the house. But we didnt let that stop us from having a great trip!

The house was a great fit for us, with the bedrooms set up, great main living area, location to Front Beach, and rooftop. There was a little confusion with how to lock the house at first (some written instruction would be helpful to future guests, the elevator same thing took us awhile to figure out. We ended up not using it except for the one guest with mobility issues to keep it available. So I got my leg work out as I stayed on the top floor. I called the rental office since it looked to me from the description that elevator might not go to top floor, but I was told by the employee her family had stayed there and the elevator did go to top floor/deck. It didn’t. My MIL with COPD was able to get up the one flight of steps once so she didn’t miss the view. What would make the house even sweeter? A toilet on the first floor (maybe a water closet in garage?), a wagon in garage to help carry stuff on walk to beach and a few beach chairs, oh and bring a white noise machine to block out the vehicle reverse beeps and whoops/cheers from excited post office delivery people starting their day at 4:30 AM. Only those of us staying in front bedroom top floor heard it each morning.
The house is great, furniture was in a very nice condition and everything was very clean. The location made it!

Overall this met our needs for a large family staying over Christmas - we needed a convenient location, elevator and pet-friendly home. However, we spent at least a solid day cleaning after arriving, doing numerous loads of laundry just to have clean floor mats in the bathrooms and endless dishwasher runs to have anything clean to cook with or eat off of. The layers of dust indicated some rooms are rarely inspected or cleaned, even the main spaces. No rug had been vacuumed or floor mopped. Same conditions in the yard/patio. The fire pit was a great feature but took some maintenance on our part to operate. Check in and out were smooth and we had no major maintenance issues. Overall a good week but would probably not stay in the same property again.

Great house with lots of stairs (small elevator too).
The best room, view, and deck is on the 4th floor.
First floor is garage (great for staging things), pool table room and heated pool. Second floor bedrooms while third is the open kitchen/living (very nice setup) with one more bedroom. The forth floor is another master bedroom with a separate living area and wonderful large deck.
My only downside... maybe just October but mosquitos almost carried us away. Bring bug spray and bite lotion.

Great stay in Isle of Palms. The location was perfect. Close to everything. The back gate is great to get to the beach shops restaurant etc. Everything was as pictured online and generally clean. Lower level and some of the sofas/furniture could use a refresh and some rooms are overdue for a paint job. Kitchen was well stocked. Had a few minor maintenance issues that were very quickly resolved. Pool is tiny but great to have. Rooftop is wonderful. Fun trip !

We came here for a little family reunion! It was the best location, perfect walking distance to the bars, restaurants, and beaches! The place was great, we had no troubles at all. We enjoyed our stay and loved the location. Other family was at another house close by and our family reunion was a success. We had alittle trouble with the gas for the pool but that was the gas company’s fault... your home is beautiful and we plan to stay 6 weeks again next year! My only negative was the sheets... they were scratchy and didn’t stay on very good. The towels were great. Thank you so much for allowing a dog... she needed to lose some weight and those stairs kept her busy! 5 stars from us.

This house had everything we needed and more. A beautiful , spacious, very clean and modern home. Our favorite amenities were the private heated pool, fire pit, and spacious modern kitchen. Perfect location for a family vacation. There was no need for a rental car as grocery, shops and restaurants were at short walking distance. The beach was a just yards away. We took beautiful scenic walks through quiet neighborhoods and the beach. Island Realty staff was exceptional, prompt response to all my inquiries. Helped me with grocery recommendations, (Harris Teeter was awesome ) and a slow internet was immediately addressed and resolved. We will definitely be renting this house again

Only complaint, which to be fair is a policy I agreed to, was that the check-out time of 10AM is quite early.

We had a great experience at this house in a great location. The house was cleaned for our 4pm arrival. All arrival info and paperwork was done via a lockbox to avoid personal contact (COVID-19). The house is within walking distance of many dining establishments (SeaBiscuit Cafe, ACME, etc). Some beach supplies were found in the garage and lower area. The house also contained a pack n' play and high chair for little children. My kids loved the elevator in the house. All bedrooms were adequate in size. This house could accommodate two families moderate in size.

Great location in downtown IOP. Well appointed for 4 families. Lots of common space. Walk out the back gate to breakfast or lunch at The Sea Biscuit. Debbie our property manager was fantastic. Handled every request and went above and beyond for us. Highly recommend.
